Canadian fighters scrambled after bomb threat to plane :

Two Canadian fighter jets on Saturday escorted a Cathay Pacific Airways flight into Vancouver International Airport in response to a bomb threat to the plane, authorities said, though they later determined there was no threat aboard the aircraft. “A security issue raised on the ground in Vancouver meant extra security for the aircraft inbound to the airport and upon arrival,” Gus Whitcomb, a spokesman for Cathay Pacific, said in a statement. “We are not aware of any issues arising on board the aircraft itself.”

Through iPads with Bluebox Ai, passengers can watch “first-run” movies, play games, read e-books and magazines, and even gamble in an in-flight casino. the company apparently wants airlines to offer Bluebox Ai-equipped iPads during flight to travelers. They are meant to replace typical in-flight entertainment systems that force travelers to watch a movie chosen by the airline on a screen either on the seat in front of them or overhead.

Pilot in Libyan crash hampered by low visibility :

Low visibility caused by mist and sand created poor flying conditions for the pilot of an Afriqiyah Airways flight that crashed just before landing in Tripoli, Libyan sources with knowledge of the investigation said Saturday. The plane, an Airbus A330-200, originated in Johannesburg, South Africa, and was at the end of its nearly nine-hour flight when it crashed Wednesday. All but one of the 104 passengers on board were killed.

Two airports likely for Goa :

Tourists who come from across the world to laze around in the balmy beaches of Goa will now have another attraction — it will have not one but two airports. The cabinet will soon take up a proposal to let the existing Indian Navy airport to operate even after the new airport in north Goa comes up.

“We are in favour of operating the existing as well as the proposed airport. The state government and the Navy, which owns the existing airport, are also in favour of operating both the airports,” said a senior civil aviation ministry official who did not want to be identified.
